Tomorrow is International Day of Charity and Kiwis are being urged to do their bit more regularly.
Community and Voluntary Sector Minister Jo Goodhew said many New Zealanders already gave a lot of time to charity and it would be good to see more people giving up their time, more often.
"On average there are just over 400,000 kiwis volunteering every week for a charity, giving over 1.5 million hours to our communities."
Today there were more ways for people to give up their time, such as Seek Volunteer, which supported sustainable business ventures, Mrs Goodhew said.
"I firmly believe that through generosity we enrich our own life as well as those we are helping. Today is a reminder of how we can use this generosity to give back to society."
