A spectacular event could be appearing in our skies in the coming days.
A comet will graze the sun on November 29 and will get the closest it has ever been to the sun in four billion years.
That's about 1.165 million kilometres above the solar surface.
Dr Grant Christie from Auckland's Stardome Observatory said it will be worth getting up at 5.00am on November 29 to get a peek.
"It won't last that long. The display could last days, possibly, and then all that material just gets spread out through space so far you won't see it."
