Kiwis backing Prince James

The Prince of Cambridge will be called James ... if New Zealanders questioned on a Herald-DigiPoll survey guessed correctly.

The royal moniker led the poll on nzherald.co.nz yesterday, gaining 27 per cent of nearly 8650 votes by 7.30 last night.

James was ahead of George (21 per cent), the name that led the odds of Britain's bookies.

Alexander was the third most popular guess at 15 per cent, followed by Louis, David, and Arthur. Least popular were Henry, Albert, Benjamin and Philip.

British bookies were leading their bets - the most popular non-sporting event in betting history - with George. The name was the strong favourite at William Hill.com, paying 5/2 last night.

It was followed by James at 9/2, Arthur at 8/1 and Alexander at 9/1.

Astrologists were also weighing in on the future King of England. Born on July 22, the heir is a Cancer and according to Susan Miller, of Astrologer Zone, will also display character traits of Leo as he was born on the cusp of both.

She told the Washington Post: "The royal baby will have the warmth and nurturing of a Cancer and the creativity and leadership of a Leo."
