New Zealand woman has been killed in Rio de Janeiro.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) has confirmed the death of Rebeca Nathan, 26, in the Brazilian city last week.
A spokesman said the New Zealand Consulate General in Sao Paulo and the ministry were providing consular assistance to her family.
"The Consulate General are in contact with Rio de Janeiro Police regarding the circumstances of Rebeca's death."
Ms Nathan's mother, Vicki Nathan, posted on facebook: "My beautiful girl has left this world and left behind a family that is in shock and disbelief and our only solace at this time is that Bex is now flying with the Angels."
