A New Zealand-born woman has been killed after falling 200m down a cliff during a dream holiday in Europe.
Prudence Angell, who had lived in Australia for more than 20 years, plunged to her death this month while on holiday in Slovenia.
A keen bushwalker, the 55-year-old was with members of her bushwalking club on Mt Rodica, at Triglav National Park, when the accident happened.
During the trek, around 5.30pm on July 13, those in front of Ms Angell heard her scream before seeing her slip and fall about 200m into a rocky ravine, Sydney's Daily Telegraph said.
A funeral planned for yesterday had to be postponed indefinitely after authorities in Slovenia delayed the release of her body.
Hundreds of mourners had been expected for the funeral at Eastern Creek in Sydney.
Long-time friend Lorraine Berry told the Daily Telegraph that her friend had "lived to travel".
"Prue was always incredibly careful and fit. When I got the call I was utterly devastated," she said.
Ms Angell, who was born in New Zealand and lived in Christchurch, had moved to Australia more than 20 years ago and lived in Mt Druitt, in Sydney.
Her Facebook page - which says she attended Rangi Ruru Girls' School in Christchurch in 1969 - shows a person who loved the outdoors.
"Two great days walking in the Blue Mountains with my bushwalking club. Sunny weather," one post reads.
"Great walk today. Helensburgh to Burning Palms, up Era Ridge and back to Helensburgh," another says.
In the last few weeks of her life, she tells friends how excited she is about going on holiday, counting down the days before flying to Europe.
One of her last posts, dated June 30, says: "One more day of work and I'm on holidays for four weeks. Slovenia here I come - walking through the Julian Alps."
A tribute from a friend, Lesley Salzmann, reads: "We were all stunned and devastated when we heard the news. Prue was an active Sutherland Bushwalking club member and leader with the reputation of a keen, strong walker.
"She will be dearly missed by all her bushwalking friends."
An official at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Australia last night said consular assistance was being provided to Ms Angell's executor of will.
