A Kiwi vigilante has been jailed for attacking a Bunnings worker in a fit of rage in a late-night mistaken identity.
Kiwi-born Alex John Beeston attacked Edward Haynes at a bus stop in Brisbane last April after believing he had attacked a woman.
The 32-year-old broke Haynes' jaw, throwing two punches and leaving him traumatised following the incident.
Beeston, who has previously been convicted of assaulting an ex-partner, first confronted Haynes after he heard a woman screaming and demanded Haynes produce some form of ID.
After Haynes said his name was Eddie and handed Beeston his driver's licence, the 32-year-old Kiwi accused Haynes of lying and proceeded to attack him.
