KEY POINTS:
A New Zealander was among 13 people rescued after a 20m tourist boat sank in high winds in the Tonle Sap lake near the popular Cambodian tourist hub of Siem Reap, close to the Angkor Wat temples.
"They were lucky they were near the shore," district governor Tho Sambath told Deutsche Presse Agentur news agency last night. "Any further out and it would have been difficult to help them."
Three Australians, four Britons and five Cambodians were also on board.
