Kiwi journalist Tova O’Brien has announced she gave birth to a baby girl 10 weeks premature in October.
O’Brien wrote on Instagram: “We have so much to be grateful for heading into 2025.
“Ivy Edith Williams O’Brien was born 10.10.24. Loves cuddles, her family, eating, pulling faces and cuddles.
“Strong, clever, beautiful and determined, our little Ivy made a dramatic entrance to the world 10 weeks early.
“To everyone who ensured Ivy had the best start to life – thank you.”
O’Brien praised the nurses, doctors and team at Auckland City Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit “for their world-class and empathetic care”, and the “remarkable crew at the Little Miracles Trust” for their support.
She also used the online post to thank doctors at Birth Right, and family and friends.
“You kept our spirits up, our tummies full and our baby so so loved.”
Last August, O’Brien announced her pregnancy online, saying: “Breaking news: this summer Cam and I welcome to the world our all-dancing, pineapple-craving, long-legged, not-so-little little one.”
“It’s hard to imagine being any happier,” she said.
Speaking to the Herald at the time, the Stuff journalist said: “[Partner] Cam and I are still pinching ourselves – though my suddenly very prominent bump leaves absolutely no room for doubt that it’s really happening!
“I definitely need more time to make sense of this flatpack nappy changing table but we can’t wait to meet our little one.”
Before becoming Stuff’s chief political correspondent, O’Brien was a host for Today FM, which was pulled off the radio waves in March last year. She was Newshub’s political editor prior to this role.
