A New Zealand pilot is in hospital in Papua New Guinea after the plane he was in crashed in remote forests.
First officer Campbell Wagstaff, a long-term resident of Australia, was one of only four survivors.
Officials said yesterday that 28 people died when the Airlines PNG Dash-8 aircraft crashed while flying from Lae to the resort of Madang, reportedly during
a violent storm.
No other New Zealanders were believed to be on the plane.
