A bacterial lung infection is an "acute" development for a New Zealand man in a coma in Thailand after a scooter crash.
Paul 'PJ' Lupi, 28, suffered severe facial injuries in the incident in the popular holiday destination of Phuket last week.
In an email update last night, the Lupi family said PJ was showing more signs of consciousness, but the lung infection was a setback.
"PJ has developed a bacterial lung infection, he is in the right place to deal with it, but given his fragile condition this is an 'acute' development," the family said.
"Please pray for him and his support team as they deal with the emotional fallout of the last 9 days, and PJ battles this setback."
