KEY POINTS:
Kiwi athletes at last year's Commonwealth Games were unwittingly at the centre of a clothing scam.
Sports Resources Ltd, which made most of the athletes' uniforms, has admitted stitching "Made in New Zealand" labels into clothes made in China.
The Sunday Star Times today reported Anthony Grant Botica and his company, Sports Resources Ltd, which contracted to Adidas for the 2006 games uniforms, pleaded guilty this month to charges brought by the Commerce Commission.
Botica will be sentenced on March 28.
Adidas managing director Greig Bramwell told the newspaper eight out of the 12 Commonwealth Games garments were affected by the label switch.
Mr Bramwell said Adidas had no idea of any problems with the uniforms until a Commerce Commission raid on Christmas Eve.
Sport Resources is still producing clothing lines for Adidas but all contractors had been told Adidas would not support or condone incorrect labelling of products.
Head of the New Zealand Olympic Committee, Barry Maister, said the issue was resolved before athletes went to the games and the uniforms had the correct labels for the competition.
