Five new Kiwi acts have been lined up to perform at the iconic Glastonbury music festival.
About 135,000 people are expected to crowd into the festival at Worthy Farm near the United Kingdom town of Glastonbury from June 24 to 26.
Creative New Zealand today announced Shapeshifter, Ladi6, Electric Wire Hustle, King Kapisi and Bella Kalolo have been added to a bill headlined by international acts U2, Coldplay and Beyonce.
They will join previously booked New Zealand act The Naked and Famous.
Festival booker Malcolm Haynes said he added the new artists after witnessing impressive performances at showcases supported by Creative New Zealand.
"I love your music scene out there. Consider me a music ambassador for New Zealand,"
Creative New Zealand chief executive Stephen Wainwright said performing at Glastonbury would help the artists achieve sustainable international success.
Past Glastonbury headliners include David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Radiohead and Oasis.
Recently reports estimate the festival add more than $200 million to the UK economy.
