Former All Black John Kirwan was all smiles yesterday when he was presented with a gift at Parliament for his efforts to raise awareness about depression.
Associate Health Minister Jim Anderton presented Kirwan with a wooden bowl inlaid with paua shells to thank him for his involvement.
"I must say it's been an amazing few days - because I don't live in New Zealand any more - just the response that I've had since I've been back, " Kirwan said. The bowl was beautiful and would be kept at his home in Italy.
Mr Anderton praised Kirwan's involvement in the National Depression Initiative. "By speaking so candidly about his personal experiences and what helped him to get his life back on track he has made it possible for many others to see the potential for a better life after depression."
