A South Auckland intersection that claimed 50 casualties in a decade has topped a list of the country's 100 most dangerous intersections.
Where Glenbrook Rd meets Kingseat Rd in Kingseat heads the New Zealand Transport Agency list that sets priorities for road safety improvements throughout the country.
Crash figures were analysed for the 10 years to 2012, with 53 deaths and 445 serious injuries recorded at the 100 highest-risk intersections over that period.
The Kingseat intersection accounted for 50 of those casualties, with three deaths and 47 injuries. Of the 100 intersections named, work has already been done at 22 of them - including the Kingseat site.
