A pupil from King's College in Auckland has been admitted to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
A special school assembly was held this morning, and staff and students have visited the boy in hospital.
Headmaster Bradley Fenner said his condition is critical, Radio New Zealand reported.
Earlier this year, a King's College student was found dead in his bed at the school.
Last week student James Webster, 16, died after drinking at a party.
Counsellors were supporting staff and students, Mr Fenner said.
