A convicted killer has been released from prison vowing to clear his name.
Nigel Johnstone was freed after serving 11 years for murdering Anton Sherlock in Lumsden in 1995 - a crime he insists he did not commit.
Mr Sherlock was beaten to death, nine days before he was to give evidence at Rex Haig's trial for the murder of Riverton man Mark Roderique.
Johnstone said he was grateful to have a team of advisers working on his behalf to have his case referred to the Court of Appeal.
"I am committed to taking all available steps to clear my name."
