Police have laid two new charges of assault with intent to injure against a woman jailed five years ago for the manslaughter of a teenage girl.
In Whangarei District Court yesterday Julie Anne Johnson, 25, entered no plea and was returned to jail to await a further appearance on September 2.
Johnson was convicted of manslaughter over the death of 16-year-old Renee Brown in February 2003 when she drove a car into a group of partygoers in Kamo. She was jailed for seven years and was paroled in March. The new charges relate to an argument between Johnson and another woman in which it is alleged Johnson grabbed the woman and pushed her in front of an oncoming car.
After initially being charged with assault, Johnson was recalled to prison to continue serving her sentence.
