Lemanu was last year convicted of theft and being an accessory after the fact to the murder of businesswoman Joanne Wang.
Ms Wang was run down in a stolen 4WD after her handbag was stolen in the carpark of Manukau Westfield in June 2008.
Before being sentenced, Lemanu spoke of his six siblings having "respectable" careers, although he never enjoyed the same success.
His criminal associations contributed to his ongoing offending and he was thought to be at a high risk of re-offending because of the "harmful pattern" of alcohol and drug abuse.
Constable Louis Solia said Lemanu was a high risk offender with an extensive criminal history.
He had not been seen in five weeks, but was thought to be hiding among his "extensive contacts" in South Auckland, Mr Solia said.
"He's the most senior member of the Killer Beez on the streets at the moment. We'd like to get them off the streets."
Mr Solia advised anyone who saw Lemanu to stay away and call police on 09 272 0925 as soon as possible.
