Wairarapa schoolchildren have a final chance tomorrow morning to shine a light for their greatest Road Safety Superhero and win prizes in return.
Holly McGeorge, projects co-ordinator for the Wairarapa Road Safety Council, said the organisation helped celebrate Road Safety Week this week with a call for younger schoolchildren in Wairarapa to nominate their superhero.
"If any children aged under 13 know of a driver, say, who is always courteous to cyclists on the road or is always wearing their seatbelt or doesn't ever have bouts of road rage, whatever kids identify as good road safety habits then they can nominate their hero on the radio."
Ms McGeorge said prospective young nominators can name as their superhero, a driver who smiles while driving, follows the road rules or gives way, and looks out for other road users like pedestrians and schoolchildren.
Children need to nominate their superhero on the Brent Gare Breakfast show on 89.5 More FM. They have only tomorrow morning left to nominate and each caller will be put in a draw for a $100 petrol voucher for their hero and a new scooter and helmet to keep.
