Pupils from Tokoroa's Strathmore School are to be treated to a free train trip by Toll Rail as a gesture of goodwill as the school deals with the aftermath of the murder of teacher Lois Dear this year.
The trip, on November 13, will be to Matamata and Hamilton and back to Tokoroa.
Toll said it would be a pre-Christmas treat, as many of the children had never been on a train.
Whetu Te Hiko, the man accused of Ms Dear's murder, is due to reappear in the High Court at Rotorua on November 9.
