Thieves have ruined a kids' learn-to-cycle track in Auckland after stealing 10 signs.
Whau Local Board chairwoman Catherine Farmer said the theft was upsetting because considerable work had gone into getting the Avondale Central Reserve circuit up and running.
"Our board provided funding for the signs and the track, to give children a safe area to learn and play."
The track used small versions of road signs to familiarise children with real-life situations.
Auckland Council encouraged people to contact police if they had any information about the theft and said they were looking at options to replace them.
