"It's cool. You get to go to Palmerston and Wellington and do lots of different things. It's awesome fun - no it's phenomenal fun - especially when we have sleep-overs," he said.
Programme co-ordinator Nicole James said between 50 and 70 children take in the programme doing a "variety of things".
They can have up to eight staff supervising the group.
"It's lots of fun in a supervised environment."
The kids seemed to really enjoy it with many returning most school holidays, Ms James said.
"They make lots of new friends ... parents know they are well looked after," she said.
As for the programme being run at at an aquatic centre - the children were hard to keep on dry land some days, Ms James said.
"If they had their way they'd be in the water all day."
It's a fun-packed programme for the entire two weeks too.
When the Times-Age arrived at the pools yesterday the kids had just taken part in a sports tournament. Today, they are becoming junior chefs and heading to the skate park. Throughout the rest of the holidays they are heading to Avalon Park, the movies, taking in jelly wrestling, racing around tracks in go-karts, dressing up and taking in Junglerama and computer games.
It cost between $35 and $50 each day - depending on the activity offered.
