Three people have been charged more than a year after a kidnapping incident which left a man with serious injuries from a car fire in Wainuiomata.
Officers were called to the fire in a car park on Coast Rd early in the morning on October 11, 2016, where they found a man with serious head injuries and burns near a black Holden Cruze, which was well alight.
Fifteen months later, the police investigation into the incident has lead to three people being charged.
A 31-year-old man from Masterton, 36-year-old women from Palmerston North, and a 25-year-old man from Wainuiomata have all been charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and arson.
All three have been remanded on bail to appear in Wellington District Court on January 30.
