KEY POINTS:
The Dutch couple abducted at gunpoint by two men and driven for hours in their campervan while being assaulted and robbed have thanked New Zealanders for their support.
A victim support worker read a statement from the couple on Campbell Live tonight.
It read: "The reason we came to New Zealand was for the people - we want everyone to know that we don't think less of the Kiwis.
"The way everybody has offered their help is absolutely heartwarming and we want to thank them for the overwhelming support. Given the circumstances we are doing fine."
The honeymooners were attacked by two armed men in the Far North last Friday.
The woman was sexually assaulted in front of her new husband before the couple were dumped at Towai, near Kawakawa, south of Paihia in the Bay of Islands.
Support from people around the country had included offers of flights to and from Queenstown, and accommodation at the exclusive Millbrook resort.
The police inquiry team swelled to 30 today as they hunt the men involved in the crime.
However, police said they had no idea of the identity of the two attackers.
The only description police had was two possibly Maori men, aged between 20 and 40, of solid build, with a good local knowledge.
It was hard to provide a more accurate description because they were both masked and it was dark when they attacked the couple at Haruru Falls, between Kerikeri and Paihia, police said.
Police were still keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the white Toyota campervan at Haruru Falls, Paihia, Towai, or in the Bay of Islands.
People with information should call (09) 405 2966.
