An Auckland man is recovering from horrific injuries after he was kidnapped from the street and taken to a garage where he was repeatedly slashed about the body with a knife.
Police say the man, who is believed to be about 30, was abducted while he was walking along a street in Otahuhu on Thursday afternoon.
He was taken to a house where he was slashed about the head, chest and arms with a Stanley knife.
"He received horrific injuries," said Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Lendrum.
Seriously injured and bleeding, the victim was later "delivered" to an accident and emergency clinic.
On Saturday police found the house where he had been attacked. Bloody evidence of the slashing was still splattered on the walls.
"The garage was like a slaughterhouse, blood was splattered everywhere," said Detective Senior Sergeant Lendrum.
He said the victim knew his attackers, one of whom had been arrested.
Further inquiries are continuing and police would like to hear from anyone with information about the kidnapping and slashing.
