The man charged in connection with a 45-minute hostage drama on Sunday was yesterday dragged from a courtroom screaming abuse.
Looking directly at the media, Leonard Archer Hall, whose face is covered in tattoos, screamed, "Get it right ... Nazis, Mongrel Mob" as he was dragged back towards the cells.
His outburst followed a short appearance in the Auckland District Court where he was remanded in custody until June 13.
Hall faces three charges of kidnapping for his role in a hostage drama which involved shooting and a police chase on Sunday.
He is alleged to have shot at several police officers during the chase, which wound its way from St Lukes, through West Auckland and onto the Northwestern Motorway.
Detective Inspector Dave Pearson said the incident severely affected the hostages, an elderly Chinese couple and their son.
The woman was taken to hospital with broken ribs after the chase finished in a police-controlled crash.
Mr Pearson said police did not know how many additional charges Hall would face but there would be more.
Police are continuing inquiries into the incident and were yesterday scouring the route Hall had allegedly ordered his hostage to drive, looking for cartridge cases.
It is thought at least six shots were fired at police from a rifle.
Several patched gang members sat outside the courtroom during Hall's appearance yesterday. Hall is alleged to have waved a Mongrel Mob patch out the back window of the car as it was being chased.
