KEY POINTS:
John Key is New Zealand's sexiest politician, according to a new survey.
The prospective Prime Minister was the politician most attractive to the opposite sex in North & South's poll of 550 New Zealanders, winning almost 28 per cent of the vote.
Alongside questions about what it means to be a New Zealander, respondents were asked light-hearted questions about political parties and their leaders.
Key also scored highest for likeability, while Helen Clark had winning scores for decisiveness - and arrogance.
When it came to picking a politician to babysit their kids, Jeanette Fitzsimons was a clear winner, followed by Bill English.
Winston Peters was a popular dinner party guest but also one of the politicians most likely to stab you in the back.
National came out on top when respondents were asked how they intended to vote in the general election, with 39.3 per cent, double Labour's score.
And you can forget global warming, terrorism and sovereignty issues - New Zealanders' greatest concern this year is petrol prices.
More than two-thirds of respondents wanted the New Zealand flag and national anthem left alone - although they preferred the combined Maori and English version to all-English and all-Maori renditions.
Aucklanders and people living outside our biggest city chose "materialistic" and "stressed" as the characteristics they most associated with its residents.
The full results are in the July issue of North & South, on sale tomorrow.
