Prime Minister John Key says he will keep the tourism portfolio if National is re-elected.
He said National would continue to support overseas promotion, including international business conferences to come to New Zealand, and to build closer tourism ties with China.
"Having the portfolio as one of the Prime Minister's portfolios ensures that tourism is at the heart of the Government's economic thinking. I will continue to advocate for the New Zealand tourism industry when I'm overseas on official visits," he said today.
