Prime Minister John Key has visited Fonterra's farm in Chile, saying that other than the rain it reminded him of the Waikato.
The farm is owned by Soprole, a Chile company owned by Fonterra, and is run according to New Zealand farming practises.
Mr Key said there were good opportunities to increase dairy production in Chile.
Donning gumboots he inspected the farm facilities, learned about the mix of clover and rye pasture grown from New Zealand seed, and admired the cows born from embryos from New Zealand.
He was given a poncho for his efforts at a barbecue where he met with the Chilean farm managers of Fonterra's farms in Chile, and New Zealanders farming in the area.
