Politicians just have to get used to the idea they are under a high degree of scrutiny when they are in public life.
John Key is talking about Labour's Darren Hughes, who's resigned under a cloud before a police investigation is finished and before any charges have been laid against him.
"The rules that apply to everyone else are pretty much a little bit different when you're an MP and that's because there is no possibility for name suppression and that sort of thing," he says.
The Prime Minister says he was under that sort of scrutiny last year with his blind trust - he had to spend money and time defending it, even though it was absolutely blind.
The Labour Party are due to hold a front-bench meeting today to discuss who is best to take Mr Hughes' position.
