Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley isn't making any excuses for his team's 4-1 loss to Tawa in their Capital Soccer premier division match at Queen Elizabeth Park oval on Sunday
Going into the game on the back of their Hilton Petone pre-season tournament success and a .four-goal victory in their opening premier division game against Kapiti Coast, much was expected from Wairarapa United but they failed to deliver.
Keinzley said the lack of endeavour by so many of his players, especially in a second half where they conceded four goals, was hard to explain. "It was like they had been at a party and were still hung over&&&.and I know that wasn't the case," he said. "Their focus seemed to be elsewhere, too many of them were just going through the motions."
At the same time Keinzley only had praise for the commitment and structure of a Tawa side who have been Wairarapa United's so-called "bogey" team for some seasons now.
"They didn't pull any surprises, we knew their concentration would be on doing the basics well and that's exactly how it was," he said. "There was nothing tactically different about them, they shouldn't have been three goals better than us, that's for sure."
Keinzley: We had no focus
