A reminder to keep an eye out for older members of your family or community this Christmas and ensure no one will take advantage of them.
Senior Citizens Minister Jo Goodhew said vulnerable elders can face extra pressures at this time of year.
She advised people to check on their neighbours and loved ones.
"Make sure that older New Zealanders are not being pressured into lending money, because unfortunately when we talk about elder abuse, the most common form of it is financial abuse."
Jo Goodhew said that usually comes from family members or people they know well.
