Two Sydney adventurers plan to set off in a kayak for New Zealand on Australia Day.
School friends Justin Jones, 23, and James Castrission, 24, plan to leave Sydney on January 26 and paddle 2200km to Auckland in a custom-built, 9m kayak.
The first two-man transtasman kayak crossing will take 45 to 55 days.
