Police are searching for a kayaker who was reported missing in Wellington Harbour this evening.
The search for the 19-year-old man was sparked after a person kayaking with him and another person called police about 6.10pm. The other kayakers became separated from the 19-year-old man in Wellington Harbour close to Ward Island.
Police search and rescue, the Wellington police maritime unit and the Westpac rescue helicopter were involved in the search.
A kayak believed to belong to the missing man had been found on the shore about 6km from Ward Island.
