Bungy jumping off the Auckland Harbour Bridge with pop star Katy Perry was the best birthday present for one local fan.
AUT student Marinol Nuval, who turned 19 yesterday, got to bungy jump with the star after she was chosen by Perry at her concert on Friday night.
"It was pretty amazing," Miss Nuval said.
"It's actually my birthday today - so it all worked out," she laughed.
Miss Nuval said the pop star gave her a couple of hugs before the pair and two groups - members of Perry's dance crew - walked on to the bridge.
She said the singer was "really nice" and was calm as they were preparing for the big jump.
"She was the third to last [and] seemed really calm about it.
"She was kind of scared, I guess, but as you would be if you were about to jump off a bridge. But she seemed ready for it."
Miss Nuval said she was still awestruck and couldn't remember her conversations with the popstar.
"She came up to me a few times and we just talked about the jump and stuff.
"I'm still in disbelief."
And Steven Fernandez, who chases celebrities when they are in town, managed to squeeze through security as the pop star arrived at the bridge.
The 21-year-old is a blogger for website Kiwipaparazzi.com, whose team also managed to photograph Beyonce last November when she arrived to visit husband Jay-Z who was performing here.
"I just followed her straight through, acting like I was one of them [the dancers]," Mr Fernandez said.
"She was really nice but not very talkative. I'd say something and she would just say: 'Oh thanks!'.
"She took a photo with me, so of course I was really happy to get that."
