Karla Cardno's killer refused parole

The convicted murderer of schoolgirl Karla Cardno has been refused parole.

The Parole Board has also made a three year postponement order on Paul Dally, effectively suspending his annual consideration for parole.

In its decision, the board said a postponement order can only be imposed where it is satisfied an offender will not be considered suitable at their next scheduled appearance.

Dally was sentenced in 1990 after he raped and tortured the Lower Hutt girl before burying her alive at a beach near Eastbourne.
