A South Korean dancer and choreographer on a three-month residency at New Pacific Studio, Mt Bruce, wants to learn all she can about Maori haka and other traditions.
Saes Byeol Cha, 24, will, in return, perform traditional Korean dance at the studio's open day on October 21 and probably at Mauriceville School.
Studio director Dr Kay Flavell said once school holidays were over, Cha hoped to attend Mauriceville School and to watch the school's kapa haka group perform.
"She would then like to show the children some traditional Korean dances," Dr Flavell said.
Cha, who is from Seoul, is eager to collaborate with Wairarapa Maori as she believes the only way of keeping traditional dance alive is by visiting places and participating.
