Kaitaia police are seeking witnesses after an assault put a 34-year-old man in critical condition in Whangarei Hospital.
The man was attacked about 2.30am on Sunday July 8, in West Lane, central Kaitaia, a service alley behind a bank.
Senior Sergeant Gordon Gunn said police wanted to talk to anyone in or around Joe's Garage Bar, Commerce Street, Bank Street or the service alley area around the time of the attack.
