Police say a Northland pensioner found dead in his flat died from stab wounds.
The body of Norman James Lewis, 81, of Kaikohe was found in his Tawanui Rd pensioner flat on Wednesday.
Tracey Anne Lewis, 39, from Ngawha Springs, just east of Kaikohe, and Matiu Tane Kopa, 44, unemployed of Otaua, southwest of the town, appeared in Kaikohe District Court yesterday jointly charged with murder.
They were remanded in custody and will appear again on November 29.
Police spokeswoman Sarah Kennett said police expected the scene examination to finish today and were still asking for any witnesses or anyone who knew Mr Lewis to contact the Kaikohe Police Station.
