The inquest into the deaths of three-month-old twins Chris and Cru Kahui has been adjourned until next year.
The second of three parts of the inquest before Coroner Garry Evans finished three days earlier than scheduled because the hearing of evidence went more quickly than expected, and for another reason which is suppressed.
It will resume on an as yet unconfirmed date in late February or early March with the coroner hearing evidence from three doctors, including Dr Patrick Kelly - one of the country's key experts on child abuse - who will comment on the cause and timing of the twins' injuries and also the broader social policy issues surrounding child abuse.
The court will also hear from two civilian witnesses.
The twins died of head injuries in June 2006.
Their father, Chris Kahui, was found not guilty of their murder charges a 2008 High Court trial.
