KEY POINTS:
A Wellington District Court jury today found an Auckland construction worker guilty of raping a German tourist in a Wellington backpackers hostel.
Natas Simi, 32, was charged with the rape of the 18-year-old, now back in Germany, at the Wildlife Backpackers in Tory Street in February last year.
Simi told police he thought the two were having an affair and the sex was consensual.
Judge Michael Behrens remanded Simi in custody until sentencing on November 23.
