Judges may be drafted to Auckland from other regions to help relieve the backlog of jury trials.
Courts Minister Matt Robson says that is just one of a range of options being considered.
There is a backlog of 250 jury trials in Auckland, meaning no new cases can be squeezed into the district court before September.
Matt Robson says it is ultimately up to the Chief District Court Judge to decide whether to bring on extra judges, and his officials are looking at what other steps can be taken .
Matt Robson says officials will report back to him on Wednesday.
