KEY POINTS:
A judge has warned people not to discuss the murder of Auckland Grammar School student Augustine Borrell on internet sites after a youth appeared in court today.
The 18-year-old was given name suppression and remanded in custody until next Thursday when his legal team are expected to apply for bail.
Judge Sarah Fleming emphasised the suppression order applied to websites as well as traditional media.
Supporters of the accused were at court this morning and said he was a "good guy".
The judge suppressed all details of the case, including discussion on networking sites.
The youth's arrest came after comments were posted on the popular Bebo website saying "i am real sory 4 tha incident" and "iv handed maself in".
The Otahuhu teenager, also faced a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an incident in which a man was allegedly stabbed in the head hours before the murder of 17-year-old Augustine.
That stabbing happened about 10pm at a party in London St, St Marys Bay.
A second person sought by police over the death of Auckland teenager Augustine's death has been cleared.
The youth was one of two "persons of interest" being sought by police but he contacted police today and gave a statement about his activities on the night in question.
Detective Sergeant Steve Breach said a second person who had been seen on security camera footage at a nearby BP service station had been identified.
Detective Sergeant Steve Breach said: "We're satisfied that he had no involvement in Augustine's murder."
"I would again like to thank the media for distributing the images so swiftly. This has saved us an enormous amount of time that would've otherwise been spent trying to track him down."
Although no Bebo comments about the case itself had been posted this afternoon following the judge's comments, it has not stopped hundreds from expressing their grief through the site.
The site appears to be hugely popular receiving 7659 profile views and having 1133 members already.
Included on the page are photos of Augustine, a video of him playing rugby, passages from the bible and a message on the forum asking people to bring donations for his family to the front gate of the school this morning.
The page has been inundated with messages, some from those who did not even know him, expressing their sadness and offering their condolences to the family.
"Aye man I didn't know him personally.. But I got homies who did.. And I just wanna say RIP G.. Ur finally home G in Heaven above Watching over ur ppl and guiding them from harm," said one comment.
But the anger still comes through with comments being left such as: "I hope that bastard that stab you goes down 4 a very long time."
It seems Bebo has provided a place for those who knew him to remember.
Since his death numerous photos that include Augustine have been uploaded onto people's sites.
Some Bebo members have changed their profile photos to one of Augustine instead of one of themselves.
Every page is full of comments and memories of him.
One particular Bebo page, which was over the past few days subject to incriminating comments, has now been blocked to those who are not direct friends.
The Operation Hamilton investigation team is continuing to contact and speak with the large number of people believed to have been in the vicinity of where Augustine was killed on Saturday night and would like to hear from anyone not yet contacted by police who may be able to assist the investigation.
