A prominent figure in the financial industry accused of a hit and run after a road rage incident, has applied for name suppression because two family members have health issues.
The man has been granted interim name suppression while Judge Greg Davis decides whether to suppress his name until the end of the trial.
He appeared at the Auckland District Court yesterday charged with wounding with reckless disregard and his lawyer David Reece said the case would go to trial.
Mr Reece argued his client should keep his interim name suppression because his family had health issues and naming the man could cause them stress and worsen their conditions.
Judge Greg Davis suppressed all details of the man's family and their health issues.
He also suppressed any details that could identify the man.
Continued name suppression was opposed by police prosecutor Catherine Vailahi and Clare Bradley for TV3's owner MediaWorks.
Ms Vailahi said the victim of the road rage incident had been left with two broken legs.
"The complainant is still in hospital undergoing numerous surgery," Ms Vailahi said.
The crash happened on Mt Eden Rd, Auckland, outside Galbraith's pub.
