Sir Robert Jones says he will not lay a fraud complaint against New Zealand First in regard to a $25,000 donation he made that the party has never declared.
The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is considering whether to investigate what happened to several undeclared donations, including a $25,000 cheque from Sir Robert.
The property magnate believed the cheque, made out to the Spencer Trust, was going to NZ First. Wayne Peters, brother of party leader Winston Peters, administers the trust.
The donation has never been declared and despite requests from Sir Robert, NZ First is yet to provide a satisfactory answer about what happened to the money.
Sir Robert said he had recently been visited by SFO investigators.
