John Davy's resume says he has worked in some of the world's largest centres, and last year he added New Zealand to the list.
He told prospective employees that "my fluent English and French have allowed me the opportunity to work in many different countries".
Those he noted were England, France, Switzerland, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong.
He said that during his time with International Business Partners - between 1988 and 1998 - he worked in London, Geneva, Paris and Vancouver.
But Herald investigations put Mr Davy in the Canadian ski resort town of Whistler from the early 1990s to 1995-96.
Professionals who had business dealings with Mr Davy, and even played sport with him at the time, have seen his pictures on the Herald website and spoken about his time there.
Mr Davy operated an accountancy business from his home, said a barrister.
An accountant in Whistler said yesterday that Mr Davy's company letterhead listed his qualifications as C.F.M.A. and C. Arb.
"I have not heard of a C. Arb but John stated it was to do with arbitration."
The Whistler branch of Canada's North Shore Credit Union was keen to talk to Mr Davy about an outstanding account, and lawyers and accountants who represented former clients of Mr Davy were interested to learn he is living in New Zealand.
The Herald has also spoken to a New Zealand man who knew Mr Davy during his time in Saudi Arabia, which his CV says was between June 1998 and May 2000.
Mr Davy said his experience and skills were complemented "by a very sound background in international business, finance, marketing, HR and IT.
"I maintain a high degree of integrity and ethics in my professional and personal life. I'm a hands-on executive and facilitator."
Mr Davy stated that he spent seven years working with two companies in Vancouver, one which was "in the business of designing, manufacturing, distributing and licensing consumer products".
The only information he provided about the other company was that it was "directly involved in network marketing".
