A jogger who has been fighting for her life since she was injured in a collision with a cyclist in Hamilton a week ago may be on the mend.
Momoe Sugiyama, a 52-year-old Japanese national, has been in Auckland Hospital's critical care unit with serious head injuries since the crash last Thursday, in which she collided with a cyclist on a blind corner in an underpass.
Auckland Hospital said this morning that her condition was "stable and satisfactory".
Due to a mix-up in communications, police earlier reported Mrs Sugiyama had died and were forced to apologise for the mistake.
Her sister and brother have flown from Japan to join her husband Takki and daughter Nami.
