KEY POINTS:
Job losses are expected at the Department of Conservation (DOC) in the face of predicted multi-million dollar losses.
DOC director-general Al Morrison told Radio New Zealand average losses of $8 million annually for the next three years were expected.
Contributing factors included were salary increases, inflation and implementing Treaty of Waitangi settlements.
Mr Morrison this week told DOC staff a "significant review" would be held into its Wellington head office and regional offices.
DOC would try to avoid personnel cuts in operational areas, he said.
The review would be completed by mid-April, with decisions on jobs by early May.
