For the past week Auckland man "Steve" has been been trying to sell "125 very, very erotic" images of his former girlfriend on Trade Me. Each time Trade Me removed the listing, Steve - who has not included his surname on his profile but goes under the user name "freqenator" - put the pictures up again for auction.
"My girlfriend cheated on me, now I am trying to make back some of the money I stupidly spent on her," he explained on the website.
Bidding got to $26 before being withdrawn. In one image, Steve's ex in a blue negligee while, in another, she poses in a see-through top and mini-skirt.
Trade Me received a flurry of complaints from members when Steve first posted the images a week ago. They told him the site was not the appropriate place for jilted lovers to exact their revenge.
But Steve kept relisting until yesterday, when Trade Me banned him. And Steve wasn't talking.
Trade Me spokesman Mike O'Donnell said Steve was "now toast".
"While the images weren't pornographic, they weren't appropriate for the general part of the site," he said.
