Swimmers are being warned to take care on Canterbury Beaches, after a swarm of jellyfish washed up on the coast.
Henry Lawson of Surf Lifesaving says hundreds of bluebottles washed up on Spencer Beach, just North of Christchurch last week.
He says it's the warmer water temperatures attracting them to the shore.
"The water has been a bit warmer this season, there has been some talk about the fact we might be expecting some at some stage, so we certainly weren't surprised when they turned up.''
Mr Lawson says the jellies are nothing to worry about, but it pays to err on the side of caution.
